User-Agent Parser

Decode any user-agent string into browser, engine, OS and device type.

About this tool

Every browser sends a user-agent header that names its engine, version and platform — historically a messy, half-fictional string for compatibility reasons. This parser untangles it into the parts that actually matter.

Your own user agent is loaded automatically, or paste any string (for example from a server log) to identify the browser, rendering engine, OS and whether the request came from a desktop, tablet or phone.

Frequently asked questions

For legacy compatibility, nearly every UA includes tokens like "Mozilla/5.0" and "like Gecko" or "Safari". The parser ignores the noise and reports the real browser.

It's heuristic — UA strings can be spoofed or unusual. For common browsers it's reliable; obscure or deliberately faked agents may not map cleanly.
